TracFone Offers $45 Unlimited Wireless Plan

Here's a new set of wireless plans that will be attractive during the economic downturn. TracFone Wireless has just offered a new unlimited cell phone plan that will cause some waves in the industry.

TracFone Wireless or TracFone specializes in prepaid mobile phone services. This carriers serves over 11 million customers from the United States, Puerto Rico and the United States Virgin Islands.

Unlimited plans are popular because of the endless minutes they offer. However, they are usually offered at a high price with the exception of smaller carriers who provide prepaid unlimited plans for a cheaper price. However, a new option from TracFone Wireless has just crashed the party.

TracFone is offering a $45 per month plan that provides unlimited calling and messaging plus 30MB of data. This new prepaid, no-contract wireless brand of service is named StraightTalk.

StraightTalk also offers an affordable deal with 1000 anytime minutes with 1000 messages for $30 per month.

As of this moment, this TracFone unlimited wireless plan is the cheapest in the market. Boost Mobile offers a similar plan but it charges fifty bucks per month.

As good as it sounds this offer has some weaknesses. For instance, the carrier's network is not completely nationwide. TracFone Wireless gets its coverage from Verizon Wireless but the maps shows gaps or spaces with no service.

Unlike other smaller carriers, the new StraightTalk service has a very limited cell phone lineup. Subscribers will only be able to choose from Motorola RAZR V3a and W385, and the LG 200CM. This limited offering might discourage some users from getting the affordable service.

Now, it will be interesting to see how other carriers react to this. Will Boost or Virgin mobile also lower the price of their plans? Only time will tell. But this may set of a trend of cheaper unlimited services.

That's it for this post on the TracFone unlimited wireless plan. Keep on stopping by to get the latest updates on the cell phone plan industry.
